Attractions are an especially good idea if you have a family, the best option is to try and find something that can amuse mum and dad as well as the children. If your holidaying in the UK it will depend on what is relatively close to where you are staying that can entertain you. Attractions like Legoland in Windsor provide a great day out for the family and can be visited for a very reasonable price. Car Hire Deals

Car hire has become an almost essential part of the holiday experience as more and more people are venturing away from the traditional hotel holiday. People often want holidays off the beaten track meaning that a car has become essential whilst providing means of exploring the local area.  Car hire should no longer be perceived as yet another expense to the holiday as many car hire discounts are readily available and represent great value for money. For example it is possible to hire a basic car for a week in Spain and pay under £100 which is very reasonable considering the freedom it adds to the holiday.

The cost can rise when looking to hire a larger vehicle, often more expensive car hire depends on how the service is priced in that individual country. For example hireling a car in France is considerably more expensive that Spain which seems odd as they are not a million miles away from each other! Really it is down to demand and the popularity of the country you are planning to holiday in and the individual destination within the country itself.

If you are looking to pick a car up from one area and drop it off in another then you will almost always pay extra fee that will be added to the total price of the car hire. It is important to be aware of hidden extras with car hire, often there are catches and hidden costs in the form of insurance cover. It is always worth taking the time out to read the terms and conditions – especially the small print! There is a lot of competition by car hire companies and there are a lot to choose from. Often it is advisable to go with a well known company but u may pay a little extra.  It is always a good idea to check out the latest car hire offers as some really attractive deals can be had.

Buy Displays Online and Save Money

Friday, July 17th, 2009

It is a well known fact that effective advertising is a very important part of product success. One way to promote a product is through visual advertising at a trade show. If you are considering participation in a trade show then you should consider your display a critical tool. Your display will reach out to a large number of potential customers and may be cheaper than other forms of advertising.

It is possible to find wonderful websites which offer unique display solutions. These sites help to generate mass appeal amongst your target audience. Typically most of these sites offer products that are relatively inexpensive. In addition to this some sites allow the users to customize their display tools and their payment methods. This creates a display based on the advertiser’s needs and at a price they can afford.

By shopping online you not only save time and money, but also broaden your display options. If you spend less on display tools you can afford more types of tools. Imagine receiving your new digital display board and still being able to afford brochures. Now imagine you have ordered brochure holders from the same display supply distributor while staying within your advertising budget.

If you are considering the purchase of display tools it is imperative that you look online first. You will find that purchasing online is much more affordable than using a local retailer and you will be more satisfied with the overall results. Look online first then purchase your display equipment and you will improve the quality of your display and save money too.

Dealing with indoor allergies

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Allergies can be debilitating even for people with mild symptoms.  The typical runny nose, sneezing and watery eyes make it difficult to concentrate on even the simplest tasks.  Unlike hay fever sufferers, those with indoor allergies tend to suffer all year round without respite.

By far the most common cause of indoor allergies is house dust mite droppings as dust mites are found in every home in the UK.  Modern centrally heated houses make the perfect breading ground for them.  They thrive in a warm and humid location so beds provide an ideal environment and even a food source in the form of dead skin cells, although they can also live in carpets, soft furnishings and even furry toys.  Asthmatics can be particularly susceptible to indoor allergies bought about by house dust mites and the allergy symptoms can even bring about asthma attacks.

The best way to reduce the impact of the dust mite is to control their numbers as far as is possible.

  • Barrier covers – Use specially design barrier covers on the non-washable bedding, e.g. pillows and mattress.  The covers need to enclose the item entirely to be effective.
  • Wash bedding on high heat – Wash all bedclothes at a temperature of at least 60 degrees centigrade.  This is sufficient to kill the dust mites; lower temperatures will only provide temporary relief by removing the dust mite droppings but leaving the mites alive.
  • Use a HEPA vacuum – Use a high filtration vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter such as the Dyson DC25.  The HEPA filter ensures that the majority of the allergens stay in the filter and are not atomised back into the air.  Regularly vacuum all household upholstery, ideally several times a week.
  • Damp wipe surfaces – Rather than using a duster to dust and polish surfaces, use a damp cloth, this will trap the allergens rather than making them airborne where they are more likely to cause symptoms.
  • Use a dehumidifier – The house dust mites like a humid environment so use a dehumidifier to keep the house in the range 30-50% humidity.

Get the Best Mortgage Deal Now!

Friday, July 17th, 2009

It was revealed this week that Banks are operating the highest profit margins on mortgage deals in 20 years.

Lenders are still reluctant to lend to house buyers despite the appearance of a lucrative market.  The bank rate is currently at 0.5pc, while some homeowners are paying 8pc interest on fixed rate homeowner loans

The average two-year fixed rate is now said to be 5.16pc per year, this gives lenders a profit margin of 3.11pc.  This is the widest it has been since 1988.   This margin has increased dramatically because of the credit crunch.  Lenders are being over cautious as they believe borrowers will default given the current climate.

It is still very difficult to get a mortgage if you do not have a large deposit.   Apparently one quarter of people who apply for a mortgage do not qualify.  Lenders would need to relax their restrictions before these people would be able to buy a property.

However, there are ways to improve your chances of finding a good deal, if you need to remortgage or you are a first time buyer.  If you do not have a 25pc deposit towards your first house or you have negative equity then your first step should be to contact your current lender or bank or building society.  Some banks are assisting people in negative equity by allowing a 125pc mortgage to enable people to move home.

Even if you do not qualify for any of the deals on the market place it is worth talking to your current lender to see what deals they can offer you.

If you are a first time buyer and have a 25pc deposit, plus a good credit rating, there are lots of good offers out there for you.

When borrowing money, make sure you check out what the arrangement fees are.  These are sometimes high, so be careful you don’t end up paying too much.

Eating a Balanced Diet

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

It’s no secret that eating a healthy balanced diet is the key to a long and active life. The UK government recommends that we each eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables every day. In today’s society however it doesn’t always seem that easy. Lunch is often taken on the fly with many of us grabbing something that’s convenient over something that is healthy. Convenience food is often loaded with high levels of fat and salt and rarely contains anything like fresh ingredients.

One easy way to up your intake of fruit is to start the day with a freshly made smoothy. It’s very easy to combine as many as three portions of fruit into one meal. This not only gets your day off to a great start but also fuels your body for the day ahead. If you are looking to lose weight then this will also help as it kicks your metabolism into gear and therefore maximises the amount of calories that your body burns.

There are many good quality specialist machines that you can buy in just about any high street that can be used and then stored away until the next morning. Experiment with different types of fruit until you find a blend that you love. You might also want to try adding a handful of oats which will help you feel full and satisfied for longer and therefore reducing your need to snack between meals.

Moving Forward with online shopping

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Retail giant Debenhams has recently chose to add customer ratings as well as reviews to its online shop in a bid to enhance its customers shopping experience and boost sales. Debenhams is creating a whole new section to the website which will feature the most popular products that fellow online shoppers have rated and reviewed. The idea is to essential create a real time best sellers list from actual customers. The focus has also been put on Debenhams email newsletters which will feature information of the new review section for its previous online customers.

Bazaarvoices (the name of the social commerce tool) is intended to add value to the customers shopping experience and help Debenhams to improve their current system to help make better usability for its internet customer base. The Senior Web Development manage at Debenhams commented that their previous campaigns of using authentic customer content was received well in their email campaigns and should continue to perform well on the Debenhams website.

A lot of websites already follow this customer review trend (sites such as UrbanJeans who specialise in g star jacket) but very few of the big retail giants such as Debenhams currently employ this technique. It allows customers to get a real persons opinion on products instead of having to rely on what the brand says. The use of customer reviews could also be a ploy to reduce returns as well as increasing conversion rates.

Fire Safety Tips When Camping

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Fire safety is always a concern whether you’re at home or work. And that concern shouldn’t leave you on your next camping trip. When enjoying the great outdoors, fire safety should be of the utmost importance. Here is a few tips to put into practice next time you go camping to ensure you have a safe trip:

  1. Keep campfires in a designated area and away from brush, trees and your tent/trailer. Adhere to any campground rules stating that fires must be put out at a certain time. If there is a fire ring use it and under no circumstances move it.
  2. Only use gas/propane stoves in well ventilated areas and if they are allowed.
  3. If RV or trailer camping, check the batteries in any smoke detectors yearly.
  4. Always try to light a fire without the use of lighter fluid first. Lighter fluid should only be utilized under must use circumstances. And there a very few must use circumstances for lighter fluid.
  5. When using a charcoal grill, keep a safe distance away from your tent/trailer. And as mentioned above, go easy on the lighter fluid when starting the grill. Most charcoal briquettes don’t require lighter fluid these days.
  6. Always have a fire extinguisher nearby and most importantly make sure all campers are aware of how to use it.
  7. Always make sure your campfire is completely extinguished before leaving it unattended. This is a major no-no and is the reason for many forest fires.
